Electric Vehicle Charging

When authorizing for electric vehicle charging (EVC), the merchant has two options. Either authorize a known amount when the charging has been completed or do a pre-auth upfront with an estimated amount and then complete with an increment if the estimated amount was not sufficient or a reversal to release funds if the final amount is less than the estimate.

These parameters in the authorization request (0100) should contain:

• MerchantType = 5552 - Electric Vehicle Charging
• TransType = Use the appropriate transaction type. See Transaction types

If using the pre-auth option:

• TransStatus = P - preauthorized request

The timeframe for increments is the same day in a card present environment but seven days in a card not present environment.
