Balance Inquiry

The balance inquiry transaction includes an authorization request (0100 message) using transaction type 65 (ATM chip transaction type).

Attention

Balance inquiries are only supported for Visa and MasterCard transactions.

Request

These parameters in the authorization request (0100) should contain:

• TransType = 65 (See ATM transaction types)
• TransAmount = 0
• TransCurrency = Use the currency of the card
• TransStatus = B - Balance Inquiry
• TerminalType = 3 (Unattended Terminal)

As online PIN is mandatory for balance inquiries, the PIN parameters should be sent:

• PinBlock
• PinBlockKeyIndex

Response

The balance of the card will be returned via an authorization response (0110) message in the following parameters:

• BalanceAmount (will contain a minus sign if balance is a negative amount)
• BalanceCurrency
